About THE LAST EXORCISM:

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

Manny Perez’ ‘La Soga’ hits theaters this weekend. Support this amazing movie.

By Alessandra A. Alma

On Wednesday, August 11th, Dewars and 7-57 Releasing hosted the premiere for “La Soga.” The film stars Manny Perez, who also wrote and produced the film, former Miss Universe Denise Quinones, and Juan Fernandez.

The action packed thriller is set in the Dominican Republic and tells the story of Luisito (Perez) who sets out to avenge the death of his father, after watching his murder by a deported drug dealer. As Director of the Dominican Secret Police, General Colon (Fernandez) feed into Luisito’s desire for revenge and turns him into a ruthless killer. Luisito is reunited with Jenny (Quinones), a childhood sweetheart unaware of his family tragedy and occupation, and quickly falls for each other. When Luisito gets closer to vengeance, he is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and must take justice into his own hands.

La Soga is a story of the life, the culture and the landscape of the island nation. It took Manny ten years to write the film. “Everything that happened in the film happened to me growing up in the Dominican Republic, so it’s very personal”, says Manny Perez. “It’s a work that will make you think about life, animals, and people in third world countries.”

Combined with solid acting, a powerful and well written script, a passionate soundtrack and beautiful cinematography, La Soga is a cinematic work of art.

La Soga opens national wide on August 13. For more information on the film visit

‘The Expendables’ hits theaters August 13th are you going to the testosterone party?

// August 5th, 2010 // No Comments » // Trailers, What's Poppin

It’s been nearly two decades since Sylvester Stallone ruled the box office with films like “Rocky” and “First Blood.” With the release next weekend of “The Expendables” — a retro men-on-a-mission film with Stallone out front and center — Lionsgate is betting that there is still gas left in Sly’s tank.

He won’t be doing the heavy lifting by himself. Stallone has cleverly surrounded himself with a cavalcade of current stars like Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham — and ’80s has-beens like Dolph Lundgren — who are past their expiration date, but still command goodwill among filmgoers.

In true gang’s-all-here fashion, even Bruce Willis and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger pop up in cameos.

“Ten years ago, they couldn’t have afforded these guys, but now it’s a different story,” Jeff Bock, a box-office analyst with Exhibitor Relations expressed. “This is an action junkie’s dream team, and that’s how they’re selling it — with just a list of names.”

“They’re taking their lemons and making them into lemonade,” a rival marketing executive told us.

“Expendables” does not just represent a second chance for Stallone’s crew, it also offers an opportunity for redemption for Lionsgate’s marketing team. Let’s see if their testosterone filled ads gets people to go check it out. The Expendables hits theaters August 13th
