Little Red Riding Hood hits the big screen on March 11, 2011

// January 20th, 2011 // No Comments » // Trailers, What's Poppin

In Red Riding Hood, Seyfried plays Valerie, a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. But Solomon’s arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. As panic grips the town, Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast–one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect… and bait.

Rodrigo Cortes’ keeps us in suspense with ‘Buried’ starring Ryan Reynolds.

// September 20th, 2010 // No Comments » // Trailers, What's Poppin

So I go to check out a screening of ‘Buried’ directed by Rodrigo Cortes, cause I’ve been hearing some buzz about it for a minute. Sundance, this past January was giving it big ups and even a few weeks ago the campaign poster had crazy praises. That’s a good look for a movie cause you want good buzz generating on your project I get it. That’s why I was so looking forward to the screening.

I went to check it out with a couple of friends of mine here in Miami. The West 42 press team is always on point and it’s a fun space to watch a flick.

I’m not going to give away too much about it cause I really want you to go see it.
But this is what I’m going to say to Rodrigo, Dude!! You fucking did an entire movie in a box what you did was amazing!!!

One location yet he kept it interesting. He shot it so intimate and it worked for him. I sat there like a little kid in the movies. Lost in Paul’s (Ryan Reynolds) world with him. I think you guys will enjoy this movie and appreciate Ryan Reynolds work as an actor. The kid is doing good for himself. You’ll also hear some familiar voices in the movie. I got two out of three voices right, cause I’m cool like that.

I say go SEE BURIED this weekend, but…….be careful if you are claustrophobic.

Buried is in select theaters on September 24th!!!

A man is caught in a desperate race against time in this claustrophobic thriller from director Rodrigo Cortés. Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) is an American truck driver who has been contracted to work in Iraq, and while delivering a load of kitchen equipment as part of a humanitarian aid program, he’s captured by insurgent guerrillas who intend to hold him hostage. Paul is struck unconscious, put into a coffin-like box, and buried, and when he comes to, all he has to help him get out is a lighter, a cell phone, a pen, and a jackknife. Trapped underground with a limited supply of air, Paul frantically calls his family, his employer, and American military and political representatives, trying to remain calm as his chances of survival slip farther away with each passing minute. Featuring the voice talent of Robert Paterson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis, and Erik Palladino, with all the action taking place within the underground box, Buried received its world premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

The Ministers NYC Premiere Tonight

// October 13th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // What's Poppin

It’s almost time for all my friends in NY to gather together and support our buddy Franc. Reyes, new feature “The Ministers”, which will have it’s red carpet premiere tonight. Are we excited? fuck yeah!!

epk minister 2009 010

Awhile back I wrote an article expressing my concern about MAYA and their distribution execution. Here’s my issue it’s already Tuesday and “The Ministers” releases friday afternoon. Has anyone seen one freaking commercial for it yet? and I don’t mean here on the internet. I’m talking about Television spots, I mean I see Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler are all over I know “Law abiding Citizen” is coming out friday but what the fuck is the deal?

What is going on with the marketing for “The Ministers”?

I know we have a strong presence on the internet but even that is questionable in terms of filling up theaters. The reality is a bunch of us always say we’re gonna support but really don’t follow through. When it comes to the internet that is.

I don’t want to be the wet blanket here, but shit when is a Latino project really gonna get a fair shake in this game. Let’s see what happens in the next few days.

For now my friends here is the BEHIND THE SCENES: of “The Ministers,

Put together by Lyndon McCray, Calixto Chinchilla & Karen Torres:
