Opening Screening for NALIP 2010: Special Sneak Preview of Rodrigo Garcia’s Mother and Child

// March 12th, 2010 // No Comments » // What's Poppin

On Friday, April 9, the NALIP 2010 conference is proud to host a special sneak preview of the Toronto/Sundance hit Mother and Child, written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Rodrigo Garcia! Only for registered conference attendees, this is special screening of a touching drama from Sony Pictures Classic before its release on May 7! Film will be followed by a Q&A with special guests, filmmaker Rodrigo Garcia, actress Elpidia Carrillo and other members of the cast.

The film is about three women’s lives that share a common core: they have all been profoundly affected by adoption. KAREN (Annette Bening) had a baby at 14, gave her up at birth, and has been haunted ever since by the daughter she never knew. ELIZABETH (Naomi Watts) grew up as an adopted child; she’s a bright and ambitious lawyer, but a flinty loner in her personal life. LUCY (Kerry Washington) is just embarking with her husband on the adoption odyssey, looking for a baby to become their own.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity during the NALIP 2010 conference! Register today at www.nalip.org/nalip2010

La sucia Robert Pattison is still trying to convince himself that he’s straight.

// February 23rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Where's the Beef

Since misguided sucias everywhere were cutting themselves when he told the world he’s like a girl who runs into a spiderweb when he touches a vagina, Robert Pattinson is now saying that he and Kristen Stewart are together. Like we don’t know this already. He tells The Sun:

“It is extremely difficult but we are together, yes. We can’t arrive at the same time because of the fans. It goes crazy. This was supposed to be a public appearance as a couple but it’s impossible. We are here together and it’s a public event but it’s not easy. We have to do all this stuff to avoid attention.”

Sorry. Too late little pasty sucia. Let’s not try to pretend now. The only way you’d have sex with Kristen Stewart is if she somehow transformed into Clay Aiken. Ohhhh snaps.

Morgan Freeman’s hand is still not happening for him.

// February 19th, 2010 // No Comments » // What's Poppin

After a 2008 car crash, Morgan Freeman still has no mobility in his left hand.

“I suffered nerve damage and it hasn’t gotten better. I can’t move it,” the actor has been telling the press.

“If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?” he added.

The ‘Invictus’ star crashed his car in Mississippi in August of 2008. Freeman had to be airlifted to a hospital after being removed from the wreck with the jaws of life.

Last November, Freeman settled a lawsuit filed by the passenger in his vehicle, Demaris Meyer, who alleged the actor had been driving under the influence. What we here at Latino Film Chatter want to know: Is that his jerking off hand? hey that’s an important question don’t hate.

LFC: Luis Antonio Ramos and Luis Guzman on HBO’s “How to Make it in America”

Luis Antonio Ramos and Luis Guzman on the set of HBO’s “How to make it in America” shooting in NYC. You get to see behind the scenes footage only here on Latino Film Chatter.

When I talk with Luis Antonio Ramos on the phone or even when we are chilling, he always calls himself a “Been around guy” guys like himself, Luis Guzman, Jaime Tirelli, and I could mention more but you get the point, these guys have been in this game for over 20 years!

I was even making that point with Luis Guzman the other day, we were discussing the sitcom “COMMUNITY” and how in the episode Luis was being honored at Greendale Community college. This is on prime time NBC and as I watch the show it hits me, the first time I ever saw Luis Guzman was on “Miami Vice” on NBC over 20 years ago.

Now I watched this show and see how full circle life is and how back then Luis was doing his first official acting gig, 20 plus years later “Community” on NBC dedicated an entire episode to Luis Guzman. He’s never in the show physically but we do see a statue of him at the end.

I’m sure he’d love to get that statue and put it in front of his house in Vermont.

Well the whole purpose of the story really was about “Been around guys” in the acting game, Luis Ramos is no slouch in this department either. He’s been a Lead in several TV shows (Early Edition CBS, Martin FOX, Huntress USA) on various networks. Yet Luis Ramos and Luis Guzman never really knew each other. They knew of each other but just weren’t cool like that.

I came to find this out cause I hang out with both and would talk about each other to both Luis’ I know it is getting confusing, lol bueno the thing is now they are friends because I introduced them to each other. Two Boricuas from New York doing their thing in the arts.

Luis Ramos was good enough to capture some of their day on the set, for us here on Latino film chatter. The been around guys that now can’t seem to stop crossing paths have been very supportive of Latino Film Chatter and I thank both Luis Ramos for always stepping up for the site, and to Luis Guzman bro what can I say except “I loved you in Ghost” :)
