Hilary Swank has suffered another movie flop – her latest project The Resident is going straight to DVD.

The double Oscar-winner suffered a box office disaster with 2009′s Amelia, her movie about missing pilot Amelia Earhart, which grossed just over $19 million worldwide – less than half its $40 million production budget.

Conviction, about a woman’s fight to free her brother from prison, won Swank a nomination at the upcoming Screen Actors Guild awards, but was given a limited release in the U.S. in October and has only made just under $7 million.

And now movie bosses have decided her new thriller, The Resident, won’t be given a theatrical release in North America, according to the Huffington Post. The film, which co-stars Christopher Lee and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, tells the story of a pretty young doctor who fears she is being stalked after moving into a new apartment.

McG is the choice to direct Ouija, the Universal Pictures supernatural action adventure that will follow Battleship as the next Hasbro branded property to move into production.

Scripted by Tron: Legacy writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, the film is being produced by Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir along with Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Production will begin by the summer, for release November 12, 2012. McG’s about to begin negotiations.

I’m a victim of watching the first one based on all the bullshit marketing behind it only to find out the movie was a waste of time. Seriously we already went through this with Blair Witch project and during that time we were ok with it.

We can be easily fooled once but it’s very hard to catch me a second time around.
