Wow... I really don’t have a comment the only thing I could say is that I met Jennifer when I was 18 yrs old in church and around the way she was a little stuck up girl who always was working on her dancing, she always rolled her eyes and would give me the finger yes the finger... when I tried talking to her one at church and the other by the Oval (Fountain) in Parkchester.

Ironically they were selling her clothing line in the window of Macys in Parkchester year’s later go figure?

And I was impressed that a little girl who was just a regular girl from the Bronx made it to the top with dancing, movies and a clothing and perfume line, it made me feel that anything is possible, even Franc Reyes one time lived in the projects of Parkchester (were Philip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep filmed Doubt) at one time while he was working on the script Empire.

I’m not taking sides here but I do know this I am proud to know that Latinos from my neighborhood have made it to be many have dreamed of going, it inspires me to keep moving as a screen writer/ Actor and not to give up on my dream.

Funny I can still see Jennifer stretching with pink leg warmers and her Jennifer Beal’s Flash dance shirt rolling her eyes and giving me the finger…. LOL….

You know, whenever i read that people are hating on J.LO, I laugh cause she is probably one of the LEAST talented of the latinas out there and people want to deny that because she is BORICUA. (Im not so i could care either way) she is a great business woman, savvy marketer, seizing the height of her POPULARITY to diversify her income; Good actress, good singer? Mediocre at best. (not taking anything away from her cause Madonna doesn't exactly have pipes either and she still sells) Now, would any NON-latino make this movie? Probably not. But that only increases the responsibility for her to have gotten ALL the facts right instead of worrying if you have an oscar worthy performance. And to know of Lavoe just a little bit would lead you to the fact that there was more than just one woman in his life right away. To not see that he was a womanizer (like they did with Ray CHarles) only shows how much of this was NOT a service for Latinos but only to her own ambitions. You would of never seen Skewering of the facts in a biopic of any American Icon without a disclaimer first. That being said. She should of never made this movie. Cause Im pretty sure a NON latino would of done a whole lot better, and thats a shame. She did a huge disservice to Latino movie goers who thirsty to support a Mainstream LATINO film with two of the Biggest Latino names in the american market and to NON latino investers who looked at this movie as a measure to possibly invest in future projects FOR, ABOUT, MADE BY & STARRING LATINOS. Sorry I wrote so much Cas, but i had to say my piece cause this blind latino love for JLO (who doesnt even speak proper spanish by the way) is just dumb. what has she done for US lately?

Can't we all just get along?

look i get it, Jen made it, she's the girl from the hood, hat made good. We all love that, we all rooted for her and watched her movie. God bless her too. but it does seem like somewhere along the way, she lost her WAY. Marc rocked EL CANTANTE. he did a great job, and you know what, if she would of said. MY husband deserved an OSCAR nod for his work on that film. i think everyone would be with her. BUT she didnt, she said... I DESERVE AN OSCAR! look, we know the academy is racist! they should of given Don Cheadle a nomination for DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS... but i dont know... i dont think she deserved the oscar for that role? do you andre? does anyone?

i think that's whats at issue here,

As i read all of the responses, all i could really say is,what a bunch of HATERS,im pretty sure all of u have follow j-lo career from the start,to say she made it because of her ass is just plain stupid!whats funny to me is no one gives her credit for actually making the movie,do u think any non latino would have touched this movie?no because there was no money to be made telling a latino story,im pretty sure j-lo knew this also, but felt that this was a story that need to be told regardless!and what do we do trash her!
